The History of Arab-Israeli Conflicts in the Twentieth Century
“You have to know the past to understand the present.” Carl Sagan
In June the History Discussion Group will examine the history of Arab-Israeli conflicts in the 20th century. Starting with the 1917 Balfour Declaration, a statement of British support for the “establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people”, through the 1993 Oslo Accords, which were a pair of interim agreements between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization that ultimately collapsed, we will explore key conflicts including, but not limited to, the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, the 1976 Six-Day War, and the Yom Kippur War of 1973.
All are welcome to join us via Zoom on Tuesday, June 11th at 4:30pm, for what promises to be an informative discussion.
