On Monday, August 5 at 10:00, take a walk around historic Newfield, through the Covered Bridge, over the King Bowstring Arch Bridge, and inside a Bob Leathers playground.  The Covered Bridge was built in 1853, then restored in 1972 and again in 1998.  The King Bowstring Arch Bridge was built in the 1870s and restored in 2003.  That restoration was led by Newfield resident Karen VanEtten who will walk with us to explain more about its history.  The Newfields of Fun community playground was built in 1994 and Carol Mallison was one of the two Co-Coordinators in charge of the project.  Newfield has limited sidewalks and at times we’ll be walking in the road.

We will meet at 10:00 at the Newfield Town Hall, 166 Main Street, Newfield.

Directions:
Take Rt. 13 South out of Ithaca.  At the top of the hill and the first exit for Newfield, turn left into town.  You’ll be on Main Street.  Travel through the intersection with Mill Street.  Soon after, turn right into the parking lot for the Town Hall, marked with a sign saying, “Court/Park & Ride.”  Park behind Town Hall.  If by chance the lot is full, you can also park in front of the Town Hall.
