Event name
History Discussion Group
While 18th century Europe was dominated by male rulers, this time period did see a handful of female queen regnants and empresses. Two of the best known of these were Catherine the Great, Empress Regnant of Russia, and Maria Theresa, who at various times was Queen of Bohemia, Hungary, Croatia, and Archduchess of Austria.
In December, The History Discussion Group will discuss the lives of these two remarkable women, comparing the political landscapes in which they reigned, the challenges they faced, and their approach to ruling.
As always, all are welcome to join.
