Imagining the Universe with Martha Haynes

This regular LLH program will examine some amazing astronomical images and discuss what causes their appearance and the science behind them. Come join LLH member Martha Haynes for a close-up look at some cosmic gems, from tiny bodies in the Solar System to rocky planets around nearby stars, colossal stellar explosions, dark galaxies and supermassive black holes in the distant universe. No background necessary, just a curiosity about the universe around us.

The monthly program will alternate times between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The 4:00 pm programs will cover the the stories behind astronomical images and the 7:00 pm programs will cover understanding the night sky. All programs will be recorded for members to view at a later time. This program series will be held on the following dates and times...

Martha P. Haynes is a Distinguished Professor of Arts & Sciences in Astronomy Emerita at 
Cornell University, serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the CCAT Observatory Inc.,
and is an LLH member!
