The next Film Fest meeting will be 11/27/23 at 4:30. We'll be discussing Hidden Figures.
Hidden Figures is an award-winning 2017 film loosely based on the non-fiction book by Margot Lee Shetterly. It’s the story of three Black women--Katherine Goble Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)--who worked as NASA “computers” (behind-the-scenes mathematicians) and had a significant role in the post-Sputnik space race. The three women worked at Langley Research Center in Hampton VA, which at that time was segregated.
Hidden Figures can be rented on Amazon Prime, Google Play, YouTube and Apple TV, and is available with Disney+ and Hulu premiere subscriptions
